Volunteers

Volunteers help us help girls. Most of our volunteers are women, but men also volunteer. (We want our girls to know that men care about their lives, too!)

Would you like to volunteer?

  • We need volunteers to read aloud to girls.
  • We need guest speakers – especially women in interesting careers.
  • We need homework helpers at every level – from spelling help for a six-year-old to multiplication flash cards with an eight-year-old to assistance with honors physics for our teens.
  • We need women to be mentors for our teens.
  • We need assistance with special events.
  • We need adults to assist with programming in specialty areas such as sewing lessons or helping to establish a Girls Inc. chorus.
  • We need computer lab monitors.
  • We need extra grown ups to help chaperone field trips.

We have volunteer opportunities for every commitment level – from a one time only commitment of twenty minutes to come and read to girls, to a one-to-one mentoring relationship that requires 2 hours per month, to a commitment to coach a sports team for a season.

For more information on volunteering at our centers, contact Ms. Minnie at 457-4676 or msasser@girlsincomaha.org.

Check out girlFRIENDS...

Girls Inc. girlFRIENDS is a volunteer guild dedicated to supporting Girls Incorporated of Omaha in their efforts to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through fundraising, friendraising, and advocacy.

girlFRIENDS major fund raiser is Girls Nite Out. It is a fun-filled evening featuring dinner and a nationally recognized comedienne. This event not only raises money, but increases awareness of our guild, its mission and overall service to the community.
